
Patrick O'Brien, Ph.D., CPA, CFE
Managing Director
Patrick O'Brien serves as a Managing Director and is the practice lead of our Forensic Accounting division. Patrick O’Brien has ten years of experience serving in the accounting profession. He began his career in the New York City audit practice of Deloitte & Touche where he worked on clients in the media, entertainment, retail, and manufacturing industries. Following his departure from Deloitte, he worked in the SEC Reporting Group as a Financial Reporting Analyst at Sotheby’s where gained critical knowledge in regulatory practices of publicly-traded companies. Patrick is
also an expert in the forensic accounting and fraud examination fields, with particular interest in
loss verifications.
In addition to his practical experience, Patrick is a prolific researcher and has been published in a
number of accounting journals, including The CPA Journal, The Journal of Emerging
Technologies in Accounting, Current Issues in Auditing, and Accounting Research Journal. His
particular research interests include sustainability accounting and assurance, the role and impact
of technology on the accounting profession, and communication styles and emotional
intelligence in the accounting and finance professions.
